The Devil is Not As Powerful As You Think

The devil isn’t as powerful as most people think he is. In Africa, he is such a big deal in churches and ministries that a large chunk of service times are dedicated to talking about him, praying against him and unmasking who he is. Most believers credit all their failures, misfortunes and bad experiences to the devil and this way, instead of making Jesus more popular in our Churches, we make the devil popular and even brand him as very powerful, so powerful that we will have to struggle and struggle again to be able to subdue him on a temporal basis.

“so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.” – 2 Corinthians 2:11 NLT

The devil has his schemes and when we understand his schemes, we’ll never let him shine on our platforms again! The only thing we can say about the devil is that he has been defeated! Here is what Jesus said about the devil

“…He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” – John 8:44 NLT

The devil is the originator of lies, that is all he does and it is consistent with his character, it is indivisible with his very person. There is no atom of truth in him.

Let’s narrow it down to the common conversation we hear every day among certain believers.

If the devil can kill you, he wouldn’t be pressing your neck at night. Why does he have to go through all the processes just to kill you? If the devil is not scared of you, he wouldn’t be appearing to you only at nights where you can’t see clearly. Why does he have to hide in the shadows?

He would have just killed you straight away! But he can’t! He has no such power. If the devil can make you poor, he wouldn’t be showing you dreams where you became poor, he would just make you poor straight away. The devil gets excited at your fear because that is the only tool he can use against you after ignorance. Ignorance and fear are the only tools the devil can use against a believer.

He is called the father of all lies, how then do you believe his reports? When he shows you death, rejoice because you have life in abundance! If he shows you poverty, rejoice because you are rich!

However, you shouldn’t make room to entertain the devil’s lies! He shouldn’t be showing you anything in the first place! What he is trying to do is to get you to agree with his lies. The devil depends on your “faith” to see his lies become your reality. Jesus already told us; lies are consistent with the devil’s character.

You see yourself dead in the dream and you are shivering! Through your fear, you are already walking in agreement with the enemy! Reject him and his lies! There is one rule to this…

“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” – James 4:7 NLT

Another way the devil wants to hold you bound through his lies is to get you to question God’s love and salvation. He makes you appear worthless by always bringing your past and mistakes to your notice. God’s word is here to comfort you and dispel the lies! You must resist those thoughts and insist on God’s word.

“Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.” – Jeremiah 31:3 NLT

I call you blessed.
