“So then, my brothers and sisters, because of God’s great mercy to us I appeal to you: offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer. ” – Romans 12:1
As believers in Christ Jesus, we know we were once lost in darkness and unworthy of God’s mercies but because of His love, He made plans for our salvation. The big truth is, we weren’t saved for nothing, we were saved for something. Initially, God had made man to be His extension on earth, to be His image and dominate the earth just as we allow Him to dominate our lives. In salvation, we have been recreated to conform to the image and the character of God. Get this:
1. We are living sacrifices
2. Sacrifices are dedicated to something
3. We are dedicated to God
4. To worship God is to serve Him
As people who have been saved, God wants us to truly live like Him and serve Him on earth. We are living sacrifices already but we must willingly give up ourselves to God. When you sacrifice something, it means you are dedicating that thing for special use. You are dedicated for God’s special use. I know that we serve God by walking in love with all men and by bringing men to the knowledge of the truth. There is no service of God outside walking in love.
POINT TO NOTE
To worship God isn’t to sing and watch tears pour down our eyes. To serve God is to obey His words and walk in the newness of life He has given us. To walk in this newness of life is to walk in love and show Jesus to the entire world!
I am dedicated to the service of God. I live for Jesus and not for myself.
Precious Lord, I know you saved me for your own use. I give myself away, that you use me the way you want and that you use me to show your love to the unloved.
