“If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. ” – Romans 12:7
So many times we want to be like others, we want to be like that popular musician or movie actor! Or maybe we are more conservative and want to be like that popular pastor who pastors about a hundred thousand members every Sunday. When we see people who discover, invent or create something amazing, we want to be like them and we wish we are the ones being celebrated like them. Sometimes, it is in this desire to be like them that we forget ourselves and who we are. Get this:
1. You have a gift in you!
2. Your own fulfilment is in your gift!
You may not be like that celebrity you admire. It is okay to admire people but never ever want to be like what God never designed you to be like. Identify what God’s gifting is in you, identify your area of strength and your talent! Major on it and start using it as much as it is available in you. If your gift is merely in serving others, do it well! Whatever your gifting is, carry it out well and you will discover that other people will also start admiring you and wanting to be like you. It is in the little that we graduate to the greater.
POINT TO NOTE
The Bible says in Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” While using our talents and gifting, our concern shouldn’t be in fame but in serving God with it. When we proffer solution to people using our gifting, we are serving God and it may start little but it will eventually never stop at little.
No matter the gift I have been given and how it seems insignificant, I will use it to God’s glory and I am growing from strength to strength as I serve others with what God has given me.
Thank you, Lord, for the gift and talent you have given me. I am grateful for whatever I have received of you and I know that whatever you have given me is meant to serve your purpose.
