PRACTICE HOSPITALITY | Alive! Daily Devotional

“When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.” – Romans 12:13

The early Christians understood it so much better that we aren’t just people who believe the same thing, we are brothers who are of the same spiritual father, united in Christ Jesus as one as the body of Christ. As a result, the early Christians didn’t just live like people who share the same belief but as a family! They were always ready to share what they had among themselves, they weren’t in a competition to beat a record and become the richest men in the world, they weren’t trying to obtain all the luxury the world would offer, they rather lived a selfless life for each other! Those who were privileged to earn a living carried the issues of others on their shoulders! Get this:

1. Christians aren’t just people of the same faith, they are people of the same father.

2. We ought to have this mentality that other believers are our brethren.

3. We should be proactive in helping those who are in need.

4. It should be a strong desire to be hospitable to others.

We cannot say we love one and another and not show it! We ought to practice the love we profess! It should be very easy for a Christian to access help from a fellow believer. We should be concerned with the concerns of fellow believers and take part in their sorrows and their joy. It is very unchristian to live in abundance but pretend like we don’t notice other believers who are suffering.

You are God’s extended arm to render assistance to others. In fact, one of the reasons why you should be doing earning is to help other people who don’t have the privilege to earn just like you do. The Bible says in Ephesians 4:28 “…Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.”

“I prosper in every area of my life so that I can also be able to assist those who would need assistance. I am ever ready to be God’s arm of help to fellow believers.”

Help me, precious Lord, to practice hospitality, to be ever ready to share what I have with others who are in need. Amen.
