“For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.” – Psalm 149:4
Humility doesn’t mean accepting the less of who we are or denying ourselves what is rightfully ours. Humility is the quality of not seeing ourselves more important than others and the quality of submission. When God requires humility from us, He isn’t requiring a heart full of pretence but a heart of total submission. The reason God wants us to be humble before Him isn’t because He wants to feel like God. Whether we accept Him or not, He is God who rules in the affairs of men and He doesn’t need our endorsement to be God. However, when we are humble before God, we are giving saying to Him “I can’t do it on my own. I submit to your will.” This alone brings God into the picture and this is what happened the day we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour knowing that we can’t save ourselves. Get this:
1. God takes delight in His people
2. You are part of God’s people
3. He wants to crown you with victory
4. But only those who submit to Him allow the crown on their head
It doesn’t matter who you are and what your past looks like, God takes delight in you and He doesn’t take delight in your destruction. God feels bad about any bad experiences you have and He truly cares about you. The Bible says in Ezekiel 18:23 “Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?” God calls you “mine” but He cannot force Himself on you. It is when we humble ourselves before Him that we can truly bow our heads to receive the crown of glory from Him.
POINT TO NOTE
Jesus is God’s salvation to man and the moment you accepted the sacrifice of Jesus on your behalf, you received God’s crown of salvation and we can’t experience the reality of this truth unless we maintain our steps in God’s path and live like Jesus would have us live. How would Jesus have us live? He wants us to live a life of absolute love for God and others.
“I believe that Jesus paid for my sins and united me with the father. I am a child of God and I have been crowned with God’s glory in Jesus. Therefore, I live a victorious life. Hallelujah!”
Thank you, precious Lord, for loving me despite my shortcomings. Thank you for crowning me with victory over sin and darkness.
