Saved By Grace Alone | Alive! Daily Devotional

“For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” – Romans 10:10

A lot of times our legalistic minds want to make us think that we need to add extra effort, do extra fasting and prayers, give the extra seed of faith to Pastors or pay tithes just to be able to access God’s salvation. Other times we want to think that we have to be extra good and stay upright at all times else we lose our salvation. Truth is, these things limit us from receiving God’s best! When you win a lottery, do you have to pay extra before receiving what is due to you? It is no! The moment you are informed of your winning, what you do is to believe it and receive it. Get this:

1. We receive salvation by believing we are saved in Jesus.

2. We are not just saved, we are justified.

What God requires of us is just to believe that Jesus is our saviour and that is all! The mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart and therefore we profess what we believe. There isn’t any other way to be saved than Jesus. You don’t have to buy relics, make extra confessions, do penance and other religious stuff to get saved or remain saved. Religion is a huge hindrance to your freedom in Christ.

POINT TO NOTE

The Bible says in Ephesians 2:9 “Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” You see that? While it is great to live good and moral, these things aren’t instrumental to salvation. Jesus didn’t come to teach us morals, many have been doing that. Jesus came to unite us together with God.

AFFIRMATION

“I am saved on merits of the finished works of Christ. I wouldn’t have done it on my own.”

PRAYER
