“Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” – Philippians 4:13
Many people think God is requiring them to do the right things before He could be able to love them and others think the only way to enter into God’s love is to obey all the laws. As much as we fulfil the law just in the act of love without having to pull down the lists of dos and don’ts, goods works aren’t the way to get God to love us. It is rather the way to showcase God’s love to others. God loved you first even before you were encouraged to love Him too! His love for us isn’t on the basis of what we can do or not do. Get this:
1. God has chosen you.
2. The reason He chose you is to be the holy people He loves.
3. For the sake of God’s love, clothe yourself with the fruits of the Spirit.
4. Those fruits are already inherent in you but you chose to show it.
The Bible says in Romans 8:5 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.“ He already chose us and is waiting patiently for us to recognize Him and live for Him. If you have already believed in the gospel of Jesus Christ, you have recognized and received His salvation and you now ought to live like Him. God will not demand of you what He hasn’t empowered you to do. God wants you to be merciful, kind, humble, gentle and patient in your dealings with others and Him.
POINT TO NOTE
God has begotten us as His children and we can only show who our father is by living like our father. Although many people out there who wants to discredit God would quote scriptures out of context to present a wicked and unloving God, God is ever merciful and He is love! Now, go ahead and be love!
“If my father, God, is love, then I am love because I am just like Him. I will relate with others in the manner Jesus would relate with them. From today, I choose to show the world the personality of God through me.”
Dear Lord, you have made me be just like and show your true character. I may not have done so well in this but I know you will continue to lead me in the path of righteousness and the world will find reasons to believe you for who you are because of what you have made of me. Amen
