WHAT MANNER OF LOVE? | Forever Saved

What manner of love? | Forever SAVED

It is true that many people seem to be finding more and more reasons to agree that the Bible is a scam and that there isn’t God and Jesus is not our saviour but it is also true that these people believe wrongly due to ignorance. So many folks try to present a wicked God but throughout the Bible, we have seen a central theme which is all about God’s love. Today, let’s discuss the security of the believer in Christ and the manner with which God loves us.

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

Notice that Paul uses the past tense here. We aren’t going to be crucified with Christ again because it has already been done. And for the reason of our crucifixion with Christ and the reality of His resurrection, the life we live now as believers aren’t ours but the life of Christ.

We started living this life by faith in Jesus! Therefore, there must be an acknowledgement of the finished work of Jesus on our own part before we can be able to partake in what has already being given.

There is a profound truth that is worthy of consideration here. This miracle is irreversible, it is eternal because our own life is since gone and we now live the life of Christ. The Bible says in 1 Peter 1:23 “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.”

You get that? We are born again from an imperishable source! We are born through the LIVING and ENDURING WORD of GOD. By human birth, The Psalmist cried out saying in Psalm 51:5 “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” but in the new birth in Christ, the Bible says “we are born of incorruptible seed” which in other words means “we are holy from birth!” Remember that we saw previously how God’s word can never come to an end and in the same way our “born again” status isn’t something that can come to an end because we are products of His word.

No wonder John wrote in 1 John 4:17 “This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world, we are like Jesus.” God’s love has been made complete in us in the sense that God poured out the fullness of His love on us. This love should make us confident rather than afraid! The Bible says we are like Jesus in this world. Do you know what that means?

Jesus overcame the world and therefore in this world, we stand on the victory of Jesus and we live in the continuous victory over the world. This is why we must never reduce Christianity to religion or the teachings of morals. As great as morals are, it is not the essence of what Christ did in us but rather one of the fruits of who we have become.

Because we are like Jesus, in perfection and victory, we shouldn’t shiver when people talk about judgment day! We should rather rejoice because we are seated with Christ already in the heavenly places and this is more reason to walk in love! We aren’t trying to make heaven, we already operate spiritually from there as we await the “New Earth”. We wouldn’t be making claims of being like Jesus when our lives are so opposite that of Jesus, it is a careless misrepresentation. The Bible says in John 2:28 “This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world, we are like Jesus.”

Just like Christ, we ought to love, we ought to live in harmony and never discriminate anyone regardless of gender and other differences. Jesus is love and therefore we are love! Jesus is God’s word and therefore we are the products of the living word. Love and the word of God stay into eternity and therefore we are not and will never be marked for condemnation.

Let me end on this note with 1 John 3:1 which says “Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.” We aren’t just sinners who were forgiven, we are now God’s children who are loved by God. You don’t need any other endorsement to know this!

God bless you!
