“He [Jesus] is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” —1 John 2:2
Sin is not an act but nature which of course have fruits through which its works are identified. From the moment of the fall in the garden, humanity became entirely sinful that even our emotions geared towards rebellious lifestyle like hatred, envy, cheating, gender discrimination and so on. It was the sin nature that made it impossible for the flesh to do what is right as the Bible says in Romans 8:3 “For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh.” For this reason, Jesus came to destroy the power of sin! Get this:
1. Jesus made the final and authentic sacrifice for sin.
2. The sacrifice Jesus made covers everyone on earth.
By the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, He died our death that we might live in His stead. The records of Jesus got credited to us and therefore God sees us just the same way He sees Jesus. While the memories of sin is still lurking around and we may still desire to do the wrong things, those who believe in the finished works of Jesus have received a perfect Spirit! One would ask “if Jesus died for everyone, why do we still need to believe?” This is because we can only receive God’s salvation by faith as God doesn’t force His choice on us. We can’t receive what we do not believe. The Bible says “He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.” – 2 Corinthians 5:15.
POINT TO NOTE
The sin issue has been settled once and for all. Why then do people still exhibit sinful acts? This is because they are still wearing the old cloth of sin and only by the constant study of God’s word that they are renewed (Romans 12:2). What God wants us to do is to yield to Him, He isn’t judging us for any of our struggles anymore and we are only saved on the basis of what Jesus has done and in our own agreement by faith.
“I believe I am saved and I am constantly been transformed by God’s word. Therefore, I have no history with sin anymore and I enjoy God’s righteousness inherent in me by Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!”
Thank you Precious Lord for saving me! I pray for those who are yet to come to the knowledge of the truth, that the light of your word flood their hearts that they may know the love that abounds in you and live for you. Amen
