“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” ~ Galatians 5:16
Many believers in Christ Jesus would always want to think that walking in the Spirit is some kind of realm we enter when we engage ourselves in serious fasting and meditation. While fasting and prayers are vital to our faith, that is not how we walk in the Spirit. Sometimes people also consider “being in the mood of worship” as something very hard to enter and all of this misconception is because we have not paid attention to the word of God to know what exactly we are being told. We have received the very life of God and it shouldn’t be hard living the life we already have. We don’t get into the mood of worship to be able to worship God, we have been made righteous and we can just worship Him without having to engineer ourselves to enter any emotional mood. Get this:
- We can walk in the Spirit at all times.
- Walking in the Spirit prevents us from satisfying the flesh.
You have the Spirit of God in you and when the Bible talks about walking in the Spirit, we are being asked to walk according to the dictates of the Spirit. When we decide to live by what God’s word says, we are walking in the Spirit. The flesh only yearns for emotional satisfaction even when it is not going to benefit. Sometimes people engage in illegal deals just because they are scared of going hungry and that is the workings of the flesh.
POINT TO NOTE
The Bible says in Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.” When we manifest the fruits of the Spirit instead of the desires of the flesh, we are operating by the Spirit and exhibiting the qualities of our regenerated Spirit. Instead of hating, we can love and instead of being overly jealous, we can show support.
“I live by the Spirit because I live by God’s word. I have been saved out of darkness into God’s marvellous light and therefore I walk in the light forever”
Thank you, precious Lord, for making me your dwelling place. May I exhibit your loving nature that is present in me by the reason of your Spirit in me. Amen
