“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
~ Colossians 3:15
One thing God wants to have us do is to stay peaceful at all times. Although Jesus would always express His deep dislike for false religion which keeps people in ignorance and bondage, He was and is known for peace. If Jesus was a trouble maker, He had the power to get away with it but on His journey to the cross, we saw this great king of the peace who had the power to break free from them walk gently to the cross and have Him crucified for our sake. After the resurrection, He didn’t go about trying to prove a point and seek justice just like many men would do. He rather committed unto us, the ministry of reconciliation. Get this:
1. It is you who allows the peace of Christ to reign in your emotions.
2. The calling of God on you is that of peace.
3. Crown your peaceful heart with gratitude
When the Bible says “let…” it means “allow!” God wants you to allow the peace of Christ takes pre-eminence in your heart. Your heart is the centre of all your earthly operations; it includes your emotions and influences your character. You can’t be said to have been called by God and not stay peaceful. To stay peaceful means to avoid fights, heated and unfruitful arguments and to live a life that bears other people.
POINT TO NOTE
When the Bible asks you to allow the peace of Christ reign in your heart, it means that you have a role to play in letting the peace of Christ which is already in your Spirit reflect in your character. There are times you may be tempted to resort to violence and verbal fights but come on! You can do this! Allow peace to reign and this way people will say “of truth, (s)he has a different spirit!”
“Because I have the Spirit of God in me which is the Spirit of peace, I am peaceful at all times! I don’t run short of peace and therefore I let peace flow through me every day at every time!”
Thank you, Lord, for the supply of peace to my heart! Remind me at those times it seems hard to seek peace that I have to let peace reign! Let my peaceful disposition draw souls to you. Amen.
