“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”
– Ephesians 6:10
Paul gives a final word charge in this section which talks about being strong in the Lord. This tells us a lot! Being a Christian doesn’t mean there aren’t times you can’t experience weakness, it doesn’t even mean you are automatically immune from certain things happening to you. However, being a believer in Christ Jesus means that you have gained access to God’s throne of Grace anytime you want it. This means you can allow God to drive the wheels, this means you can hands off from things you can’t control and let God be in control. As much as every human being on earth can be exposed to challenges including believers, you can scale through by trusting God. The Psalmist says “even though I walk through the valleys of shadows of death I shall fear no evil” Psalm 23:4, this means there may be times you will find yourself walking right in the presence of death, lack and challenges but that doesn’t determine the end of your life. Let’s get this straight.
1. While you may experience challenges, you can be strong!
2. The place of strength is in the Lord.
3. To be strong in God is to trust God.
We were not just asked to be strong, we were told to be strong in the Lord. Our human strength is limited, depending on ourselves we will just get worked out! While it may not seem like it, while there may not be a single hope anywhere else, we can scale through by putting our trust in God and knowing that He is mighty!
POINT TO NOTE
As long as we are still on this earth, there are times we may experience earthly troubles but there is just one way to stand strong; it is by trusting God. Daniel came to the point he was thrown into Lion’s den (Daniel 6) but it wasn’t the end of him. He didn’t come out of it immediately but all through the times he was there, he was under God’s mighty protection.
“Regardless of what I face, I am not defeated! I rejoice and walk in the power of God’s might! I am not defined by the challenges I experience because I already have the victory!”
Precious Lord, thank you for reminding me that regardless of what I face today or tomorrow I can stand strong in you.
