FAITH, HOPE & LOVE | The Anchor of Eternity

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
:
It is important to understand that everything we do on earth will be over someday; all gifts, all works and all of just anything released to us both physically and spiritually will end here on earth but there are just three things that will end forever! The King James Bible used the word “charity” which actually doesn’t mean charity as we know it today, it means love. Now the Bible says faith, hope and love will abide forever because they are actually the anchor of the principle of eternity.
:
Faith, hope and love have been released to each and every one of us and our relationship with God is anchored on these! The impact of faith is felt in our present day experiences, that of hope keeps us going into the future and the impact of love is eternal in the sense that it is felt forever. One important thing to note here is that of all the three virtues that will last forever, love is the greatest of them all!
:
However, you can’t love without faith and hope! With faith, love happens now and with hope love continues into the future. Bringing it down to our everyday human experiences, it is possible to love someone because you have faith in him or her but when you suddenly start losing hope in them, your faith in them is withdrawn and you find it difficult to love them again, not because there isn’t anything to be hopeful about in them but because you have chosen to lose hope on them. There is just no way to love when faith and hope is lacking.
:

Let’s talk about faith.

While we understand that love is the greatest, faith and hope is equally very great! Love is embodied in faith and hope and so love is the greatest in the sense that without the former, the latter cannot be exercised. The prerequisite of our relationship with God is faith! The Bible never said God was pleased with Abraham because of His love but because of His faith! Faith in God will always result to love for God. In Romans 4:3, we see how Abraham’s faith was counted as righteousness by God and in Hebrews 11:6 the Bible says we can’t please God without faith! In other words, we can’t love God without faith. Faith is actually what makes God real to us and you can’t love what isn’t real to you. There is no such thing like Christianity if there isn’t anything like faith because Christianity is the life of God in man and not even the imitation of Christ! While we can imitate Christ as Christians, we are not Christians by imitating Christ. Imitating Christ is just one way of living great lives as Christians but it is the very life of God in us that makes us Christians and this happens by faith! Abraham met odds but faith made him move just further and live like there was never odds.
:

Let’s talk about Hope.

There can’t be hope without faith and love cannot grow without hope. Hope is like an extension of faith; hope is the result of building up ones faith! When one isn’t growing in faith, they are becoming less hopeful! Hope means expectancy and faith means believing! So we expect something just because we believe that stuff! The Bible says in Colossians 1:27 that Christ in us is the Hope of glory! Now read very carefully. How do we know that Christ is in us before even talking about hope? Saying “Christ in us” is a statement fueled by faith! We know Christ is in us because we believe what the word of God has said but then it is by that faith that we become hopeful for tomorrow! Now we are resting in the promises of Christ as a result of hope! We are seeing reasons to keep adding steps to our walk! The walk to maturity starts from faith but doesn’t stop there, it goes ahead to hope but doesn’t stop there! Being matured as Christians is clearly proven by our love.
:
Let’s talk about love.
Now, this is why love is greater than both faith and hope! Love is the hallmark of it all. Without faith we wouldn’t be living for God, without hope we wouldn’t endure in faith. Love isn’t a product of faith and hope but faith and hope is the only way we can get in practical touch of that love. Faith and hope is what makes love real to us! The Bible makes us understand that God is love, love is the true nature of God (1 John 4:8) and the reason why we can’t please God without faith is because we cannot receive His love or love Him without first believing in Him. Love is the only way we can stand as believers. We become Christians by faith but we truly live out that life of God in love. If love is God, we can only express God by love. We receive the life of God by faith and we express the life of God by love. This love translates into every area of our lives! It affects how we see and relate with people and it also affect how we worship God. Our faith was founded on this love and we get in touch with this love through faith. Faith is the medium through which we lay hold on God’s love and hope is the medium through which we keep holding on. Faith, hope and love are the way to start out our eternity because in the spiritual sense you only started living the day you got born again. This is why it stays forever.
