CAN A CHRSTIAN BE A SINNER?

:
Can a man suddenly become a woman? Can a book suddenly become iron? No matter how much you treat a cup, does it become a plate? Using fork to eat rice doesn’t make it a spoon! Wolf in sheep clothing doesn’t make the wolf a sheep! Then, how can a Christian who has been saved from sin also be called a sinner? An Igbo adage says “You don’t become a frog eater because you ate a frog, you become a frog eater because you’re given to frog delicacy!” Singing just now doesn’t make you a musician, a musician is one who makes a living out of music! A Christian may do wrong at times, it doesn’t make them sinners because the nature of sin isn’t in us. God doesn’t see us that way, God sees us the same way He sees Jesus! Now, let’s get this…
:
When a Christian commit wrong doing, he is not a sinner! He is a child of God who acted like a sinner! The heart of a believer will definitely hate that wrong doing because this is not who He is… A believer is not a sinner. The more a believer knows who he is, the more he learns to act as who he is. No matter how you use a remote to pretend it’s phone, the remote doesn’t turn to a phone. This is what the Bible says in Romans 6:18 ” You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. ”
:
God doesn’t keep a track record of wrong doings! Actually, doing wrong may affect you but it doesn’t affect God nor does it affect how God sees you! It is meaningless to say Jesus died for our sins and still keeps records of our sins! The Bible says God will not remember those sins anymore (Hebrews 8:12)! This is not a license to sin, it is not freedom to sin, it is freedom from sin! Talking about what Jesus did, how does it sound like license to sin? We have been delivered from sin in the sense that sin can’t leave a mark on us spiritually. The Bible says we are born of the seed that can’t be corrupted (1 Peter 1:3)! The believer in Christ is not a sinner because the believer is not defined by what they feel or do, the believer is defined by the word of God! To get the clear picture of who the believer is, we look at the word and not at the flesh!
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21 “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” God made us righteous and therefore we are righteous! We can’t be sinners and righteous at the same time!
:
Being a sinner isn’t even about doing wrong, it is about having the nature of sin. Being righteous is also not about doing right, it is about having the nature of righteousness! The Bible says in Romans 6:6 “knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.” Sinners are slaves to sin and anyone who isn’t born again is a sinner regardless of what they do! Jesus dealt with that nature of sin on our behalf that we might become the righteousness of God in Him and by Him, not by our efforts or ability to stay put. Jesus didn’t wash away only the sins we can stop doing, He washed all our sins away! The Bible says in Hebrews 10:10 “Our sins are washed away and we are made clean because Christ gave His own body as a gift to God. He did this once for all time.” The Body of Christ has become our body and no wonder we are called the Body of Christ. How can the Body of Christ be called sinners?
:
When Jesus took away our sins, Jesus was looking at the timeline of those sins! Jesus took away the past, present and the future of sin in our lives! Jesus didn’t say we must stop sinning before He would go to the cross! He went to the cross and solved the issue of sin forever. The Bible says “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!” (Romans 5:8). See that? The Bible didn’t say while we are yet sinners but while we were yet sinners! Now, we are not sinners anymore. We don’t sin to be forgiven, we have been forgiven! We don’t sin because it is not in our nature to sin! A believer who commits wrong is simply living a foreign lifestyle and needs to be called to order! This can be done by and with the word of God!
:
Let me tell you the beautiful thing about what Jesus did on the cross. He didn’t just do some works, He finished the work and gave it His fine touch of excellence! Jesus wasn’t incompetent! After the whole thing got fixed, Jesus didn’t say “to be continued…” He said “it is finished!” (John 19:30). Jesus didn’t come for episodes! There isn’t any part two to be expected, He did a fine job! The Bible says in Hebrews 7:8-9 that Jesus took our sins once and for all! He forgave us not little by little! He didn’t say He will forgive us as much as we try not to do wrong anymore! He forgave us once and for all! Jesus isn’t requiring us to beg for forgiveness anymore, He already prayed for us in the past saying “forgive them for they know not what they do!” (Luke 23:34) Jesus wants us to acknowledge what He has done, He wants us to accept His forgiveness and salvation! He wants us to live the God-quality of life (John 3:16).
:
The Bible says we have been perfectly forgiven and cleansed forever! You don’t have to try looking for the Greek word used there! Forever means forever and it is doesn’t need a deep and rocket science explanation! There is no deadline to God’s forgiveness and cleansing which has already taken place and received implementation in the lives of those who believe. Hebrews 10:14 tells us that Jesus didn’t just do a perfect job, He completed it perfectly! There is no person who hears the gospel and set out to get Guinness book of record for sin! There is no person who understands this Grace message and want to be given wholly to sin! They don’t exist! A believer in Christ is allergic to sin! A believer may be struggling with one addiction or another, a believer may be struggling with one physical weakness or another but the believer in Christ cannot be a sinner because of their struggles! God says we are righteous and we chose to believe what God has said! If He says it? We believe it! A christian cannot be a sinner!
