ONE STEP AT A TIME

:
God doesn’t expect you to start walking when you should be crawling and He expects you to be able to afford flying before you can ever fly! We don’t have wings but some have already flied, some have flied beyond the airspace of this earth realm into the moon and plans are even on the way to fly to mars! All of these men that have flied once crawled before they were able to walk. Afterwards they were able to learn certain uncommon skills and also thread into the territory of flying creatures! The entire process took time but in between these times were trainings and preparations for the next level.
:
This is how God designed it to be on earth, anything that promises instant success is obviously scam! Look closely at the temptation of Jesus, the devil came with ideas of instant happenings! He asked Jesus to turn stones into bread and quench his hunger at an instant, he asked Jesus to bow before him and get the kingdoms of this world submitted to Him at one instant but truth is, the devil used the promise of instant results to win the heart of people but the devil is usually described as one who present evil in the coating of goodness. The Bible says the devil can take the form of an Angel of light just to get people deceived. There may be instant coffee but there is no instant success on this earth.
:
Can we also take a look at the temptation of Joseph? Potiphar’s wife tempted him and that temptation had a form of instant treats but Joseph was ready to take the long walk and get to where he was meant to be. Yes, he spent years in the prison afterwards but he never ended a prisoner, he ruled Egypt! Had he fallen for instant treats? Let’s assume he was never caught, he would have ended up as the choicest servant of Potiphar but would still remain a slave!
:
Have you ever planted a tree and start reaping from it the next day? No matter the complexity of fertilizers, trees will take time to grow and trees don’t die just like that! Things that looks like instant success may happen but they will not stand the test of time. It is through the process of time that one gets trained and build capacity to be able to handle the responsibility of maintaining success. Success in itself isn’t an instant happening, it is a progression of one good result to another! There is no peak or limit of success and therefore you are not a failure just because certain results are not obvious yet. The sprout of seed planted into the ground is a result on its own, the growth of a tree even from it’s early stage is a result of it’s own but so many people are waiting for the fruit without knowing that everything takes a process. Failure is when one takes the wrong process that yields no result.
:
You hear about Ponzi schemes right? They promise you 100% increase in few hours but how many have stood the test of time? None! There is no career, no business, no relationship, no vision and so on that experience instant success, if it does, it is a sign of premature death. This is how God has designed it to happen, you must build capacity to be able to grow success when it starts happening. Success should grow, success is progressive.
:
Now, let us bring it down to you! In whatever you are engaged in or have been called to do, you must be willing to give it time and resources if you want it to grow and yeild consistent results. Just the way a baby is nurtured into growth, you must nurture that career, you must train yourself and build capacity for anything you desire to achieve. For example, if you are running towards becoming the president of your country, you don’t sit down to wait for the day it is imposed on you, you build yourself towards it! All the things you do now will tell of how well you’ll do in greater things and it is your commitment and diligence to purpose that makes you stand out. The Bible says that anyone who is consistent with what he is doing will build capacity to stand before kings.
:
I will just want to directly quote only a small portion of the Bible and it says “He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows frivolity will have poverty enough. A faithful man will abound with blessing, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.” – Proverbs 28:19-20. Watch the verses and how it reconciled with each other. First, the Bible says only those who till the land will have plenty of bread and those who spend there time on things that aren’t relevant will not be lacking in poverty. But then, doing nothing is bad and doing something is not enough! The next verse tells us why doing something isn’t enough, it requires faithfulness in what we do for blessings to abound. God has already released blessings for anyone who is faithful to his work, this faithfulness isn’t just about hard work, it involves training yourself to be good at what you do, taking your time to grow organically and perfecting yourself with consistent practice. I love the last line of that quotation, it gracefully puts a summary to this long note! When you are motivated just for money, you’ll be punished! When you are out for quick money, you’ll be punished! How? Is God the one to punish you? No, you’ll be the one to punish yourself. Ask people who loosed money to ponzi scheme, they were well punished! You’re punishing yourself when you are chasing after instant results because this world wasn’t designed for such!
:
Take your time to build capacity, take your time to master your craft, take your time to train yourself for the big days ahead! The men who invested their talents wisely were given cities to be in charge of, but the one who was only after quick success and never wanted to invest time into building capacity with the little he had was not only relieved from the responsibility, he loosed other things too! Now, you are wondering how to get going right, you are wondering where to start… Okay, I’ve got an idea! You can take it one step at a time! Make each step count, don’t skip any step and take none of it for granted! The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step and continues with one step at a time.
