JUST LIKE JESUS…

I would have preferred to look like what Jesus looked like physically. To adopt His hair style, His kind of smile, His fashion sense and so much more. Well, that isn’t what God want us to know about Jesus. Whatever representation you have seen that claims to communicate the person of Jesus is just mere art and has no spiritual relevance. We see molded images, drawings and sculptures being regarded as sacred because to those who has it in their possession, it communicates to them how Jesus was. But that is bunch of lies; the result of old aged ignorance. Those images does not in any way communicate God as much as an ant does not communicate what the man is. God warned in the Old Testament that respect, honor and reverence should not be accorded to any graven image regardless of the circumstances surrounding the imaginations. God doesn’t want us to start attributing physical forms to Him because He can only be communicated by the Spirit. He warned that even if anyone imagined any heavenly being to have looked like something, it should not be represented (Exodus 20:4). Why? it will always lead to idolatry. Idolatry isn’t just when you bow down to idols, it is when you give the relevance that should have been given to God to something else. When Jesus came, He was always referred to as the son of man at some point and also the son of God even though in the Spirit He is God but the flesh was not how God looked like, the flesh was not a representation of God’s character. It is in the Character of Jesus that God was explained and not in his flesh. Like every other flesh, Jesus slept, Jesus got hungry and all of that! So how Jesus looked on earth was not and is not important, it adds nothing or removes nothing. It is the Spiritual knowledge of Jesus that God wants us to have and not how He decorated His hair or the kind of clothes He wore.
:
There was no physical description of Jesus in the Bible because it was not important. The Bible never said Jesus was tall or short, the Bible never said He was white or black! The Bible never told us what sort of physique Jesus had or if He decided to go by the Jewish fashion all of the time. The Bible also never told us how much Jesus cried or laughed else you would see people making doctrines out of it. Why didn’t the Bible left us with all of those? Because God doesn’t want us to idolize materials and human characters, God doesn’t want us to model ourselves after any specific physical and emotional attribution, He wants us to maintain our various uniqueness, it is in the Spirit which is the real us that He wants us to look like Him! If the Bible has told us how Jesus looked, I must have done everything possible to look like Him physically. God intended that we can only know Him by the Spirit and that we can only look like Him by the Spirit. The moment we surrender and accept Jesus, something happens in the Spirit. We become exactly like Jesus, not in a physical sense but in a spiritual sense. God doesn’t want us to mold or draw images, accord them with respect, kiss those arts and feel this is how Jesus looks like… The Spirit of God bears witness in our own Spirit! If you are a believer in Christ Jesus, you can comfortably say “I am like Jesus.” The Bible says “As He is, so are we in this world!” – 1 John 4:17
:
You are just like Jesus if you are a believer in Christ Jesus! The Bible says you are born of incorruptible seed (1 Peter 1:23), you have taken after the true image of Jesus who is the exact representation of God (Hebrews 1:3). The day you got united with God, you became one with Him (1 Corinthians 6:17). All of these things took place in your Spirit and not in your body. If the Holy Spirit is made visible to the physical eyes and your own Spirit is made visible you can’t tell the difference because you are just more than an identical twin of Jesus. You might wonder why you still do certain things that Jesus wouldn’t do if He was on earth physically but I will tell you. Your Spirit as a believer in Christ Jesus is as perfect as the Holy Spirit. The problem is that you have not learned Christ (Ephesians 4:20-24) in the flesh, you have not started refilling your mind which controls your flesh with the word of God. Until you start conquering your mind with the word of God, the character of Jesus will not be formed in the flesh. While our Spirit is perfect, we cannot function perfect on earth if we do not impose the Character of the Spirit on the flesh. The flesh is weak because it is natural but the Spirit is willing because it is supernatural (Matthew 26:41). When it comes to this realm of nature, we can only relate to it with our physical bodies. After the ascension of Jesus, we became God’s way of still being on this earth physically.
:
We must give way for the character of Christ to be formed in our flesh and this happens by learning Christ! Paul prayed this prayer for Christians who were perfect on the inside but was not exhibiting the character of Jesus in the flesh. He wrote thus in Galatians 4:8-20 “Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you are turning back to those weak and worthless principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?… My children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you…” You see that? We used to be slaves and by nature we were not one with God! But now that we have believed the gospel and known God, we have become just like God in the Spirit but when we don’t understand who we are, we go on living like slaves. God wants you to enjoy your freedom as a believer, to worship Him freely as His son! The only way to know is to learn Christ and that is how Christ is formed in our mind! You are the exact representation of Jesus here on earth and not any of those drawing and arts out there can communicate the person of Jesus.
:
Give yourself to the study of the word, allow the love of God which has been shed abroad in your heart to play out in the physical. Live a complete peaceful and loving life with all men and next time they want to see what Jesus looks like, they’d be looking at you.
