LIVING IN DOMINION

A lot of people are free but aren’t living freely. This is because they are yet to understand how free they are and how much freedom they can exercise. I remember when I was much younger, we were gifted a chicken for Christmas and the legs were tied. It had been tied for a long time and during the nights I was moved by the predicament of the chicken and I decided to cut the rope used in tying it’s legs. I sure did and left the scene but when I came back in the morning, it was still there feeling it was still in bondage. I had to carry it, throw it up and let it land. I also had to push it harder before it ran a few steps, realized he was free indeed and started moving about. This is the present state of so many believers. They have heard about their freedom but they have make no exercise of it. Understanding the place of dominion empowers the believer to live a more fulfilling life.
:
The only place God designed man to exercise dominion is in Christ. In Christ man ceases to be in the same identification as of old. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” It is not open for debate, the believer in Christ obtained new identity in Christ, every old identity has been done away with and the only truth about that believer is that he is of a new making.
:
The believer in Christ is a mystery that no human study can understand. There is no word on earth fit enough to describe the new creature in Christ, no wonder we are called “New creatures” and if any name should be given to the new creature, it is the name of Jesus because we are called by His name. It is ignorance that makes believers believe in some spiritually senseless and religious ideas. Thinking we need to do some religious things like go to the mountain, pray in the midnight and other stuffs just in the quest for power makes no sense in Christianity. Christ is our all-sufficiency and when we pray, we only release the power at work inside of us. We do not need to go to any mountain just for power, Jesus said true worshippers worship by the Spirit and not on a mountain. We can give relevance to any day, any time and any thing by speaking into it. A man who prays in the night isn’t different from a man who prays in the morning, time is the only difference and anyone decides the time, the time decides nothing.
:
It also easy to see believers lining up for deliverance session for deliverance from demon possession. Sometimes I wonder if they open their Bible at all to allow the Holy Spirit speak to them. Didn’t the Bible say in 1 Peter 2:9 that God called us out of darkness into His marvelous light? Didn’t the Bible say in 1 Corinthians 6:17 that he that is united with the Lord is one Spirit with Him? How can demons possess the same body where the Holy Spirit has taken residency? The Bible says our physical body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. How can the same Spirit the Holy Spirit made His temple become the coven of witches? Do some believers read their Bible upside down? Let me tell you something about the believer in Christ Jesus.
:
The Bible says in Matthew 13:11 “…Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” The believer is one to whom the previously hidden things of the kingdom has been divinely revealed to. Those hidden things are not meant to be known by strangers, people who aren’t part of the kingdom. In some offices, you’d see the “OUT OF BOUND” sign signifying it can only be accessed by insiders of that office. While it remains a mystery to others and even to the devil, God has put the revelation of the hidden things of His kingdom into our Spirit. What is this mystery? Colossians 1:27 gives us the answer saying
:
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”
:
The mystery is summarized in a simple line which is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Christ being in man indicates divinity finding home in humanity, it means God making man His dwelling place. This makes God even more mysterious and makes us an object of confusion to the devil. How can he understand it? No one to whom it isn’t revealed can understand it. We have hope of a greater glorification because Christ is in us.
:
The life of the new creation in Christ is powered by revelation and not by information. No matter the kinds of information concerning the believer available today on the internet, it would still be another literature without the revelation of the Holy Spirit. God isn’t known by information but by revelation, it is revelation that informs us about God because mere words aren’t powerful enough to communicate the person of God and even the believer in Christ.
:
When we talk about revelation, we must know that it is progressive. God keeps updating us as we increase in capacity to carry that update. There are things God won’t reveal to you when you aren’t in the capacity to carry it. God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac and Abraham took that step of faith, God further told him not to kill Isaac. Now, if Abraham had insisted in the first revelation, he would have been wrong. The current order standing at that time was “do not kill him.” God doesn’t compromise His word, He does things for reasons. By asking Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, He was training Abraham to build up his faith and trust Him even more. By obeying to sacrifice Isaac, Abraham was admitting that through Isaac, God can truly fulfill His purpose as regards the coming of Jesus.
:
The believer in Christ is not handicapped because in Christ, doing all things is a possibility (Philippians 4:13). The day you became born again Christ became your ability. This means where your strength may not go, Christ gets you there. You have to intentionally place demands on Christ for those things that you need to do but can’t do because your strength limits you. This is one way to exercise dominion in Christ Jesus. As a part of God’s kingdom, you have been equipped to work mighty miracles as the Bible says in John 3:6
:
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
:
The believer in Christ isn’t a product of the flesh, it is a product of the Spirit of God. We are born of a seed that is incorruptible and therefore we can live by the Spirit and do extraordinary things. It only takes a person who walks in the Spirit to do supernatural things. If you are not doing better as a believer, your understanding of who you are is problematic. The believer has a supernatural dimensions. The believer is not meant to operate in lack because the Holy Spirit in us is God’s all good things.
:
The Believer can exercise dominion over every affairs of life including sin. God dealt with sin once and for all, God ended the sin problem and God isn’t doing anything about it again because He did all there was to do concerning sin. God settled the sin issue in Christ in the sense that Jesus was made sin on our behalf and we became God’s righteousness on the merit of Jesus. The Bible says concerning this in 2 Corinthians 5:21
:
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
:
The Bible further said in Romans 5:21
:
“That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”
:
The sin issue was settled that we can be called God’s children without blemish not based on our merit but on what Jesus did. God is not afraid of sin, He expressed His hate for sin by dealing with it and declaring in Roman’s 6:14 through Apostle Paul that sin can never ever lord itself over us anymore. We can exercise dominion over sin because we have won over it through Jesus! Why do a lot of believers struggle with sin? It is because they are yet to understand that they can truly exercise dominion over sin. For the children of God there is “forgiveness of sin” but to the sons there is Dominion over sin.

God bless you.
