LIVE IN JOY | Enjoying the peace of Christ

:
Often times we get overwhelmed by the realities of not getting things the way we wanted, of not achieving results exactly as we had planned. Perhaps in your plans you wanted to get married at 25, I did too! You wanted to make your first million at 21, I did too! You wanted to launch that project at 18, I did too! At 15 I had started going to very big publishing houses, booking appointments, submitting proposals and being very optimistic! I had dreamed to be so rich even before I got out of secondary school. I just wanted to have a simple life and be able to care for the family I was going to have. Sometimes, just to meet appointments, I would write to the school dean informing her of my absence from school and I would get to meet up with appointments.
:
I encountered a lot of things including abuses that would have destroyed me as a minor! Oh yes, and after all those sacrifices… I didn’t make it when I wanted to, I didn’t get married when I wanted to, I didn’t have that money when I wanted to and life became very tougher, not just for me but my family. In fact, my mates who made no such sacrifices enrolled in the Universities and graduated long before I enrolled. Some got jobs and started working, some are already planning their weddings and some are married. And then, when I got hit with these realities, I thought I was just a loser, a failure and an outright nonentity. I just couldn’t make out anything out of my life and I thought maybe God was being partial.
:
Life only started making meaning when I found my place in Christ. The more I got to know God on personal level, the more I got comforted, encouraged and stronger! I found purpose stronger than whatever I had wanted.I wouldn’t say I have perfectly mastered staying cheerful all the times but I don’t dwell in it, I always switch over to the real me, a peaceful joyful new creature in Christ Jesus. Having seen God’s wish for me, I have decided to relax and allow Him do what He had always wanted to do. Maybe I trusted myself so much to make it work but right now my trust is in God and everything has changed!
:
I know your story of disappointments might have been worse than mine but I’ve got words for you. When you’ve got God, you’ve got everything! When you’ve got God, you’ve got peace. The reason why a lot of believers don’t experience the peace of God isn’t because they don’t have it, it is because they have chosen to focus on things that doesn’t matter that much… They get depressed and hurt and they just want to give up! But when you’ve got God and you know you’ve got everything, you do not panic, you stay afloat and no matter what happens you are aware that you need not be afraid because the Lord is with you. No wonder the Psalmist said “even though I walk through the valleys of shadows of death, I shall fear no evil” (Psalm 23:4), Look at that word “shall”, it suggests the psalmist can fear evil if he wants to but he has given himself a command to fear no evil… Hallelujah! YOU NEED NOT FEAR ANY EVIL. You’ve got peace and joy, you’ve got fulfillment in Christ Jesus…. Glory to God!
:
At the worst circumstances you can still experience God’s best! You can enjoy peace at its full, you can shine in thick darkness! Don’t let anything overwhelm you, don’t mind what people said, don’t mind where they have failed don’t mind the discouragements! I usually used to ask myself “how do I really make it in this world?” But right now I am glad and peaceful because I know “I have made it already!” You may not see it but seeing is not believing! Don’t be caged at the boundaries of your sight for blessed are they who believe without seeing, they receive and manifest what is not seen. They bring the unseen into reality (Romans 4:16).
:
Just be consistent in your walk with God. People may not understand your steps, its okay! Friends may even worry that you took the wrong decisions giving up some things, It’s fine. Guard your heart jealously against any wrong information, fill your heart with good news. If your steps are ordered by God, just keep walking! He may definitely lead you through valleys of shadows of death. Don’t worry, just follow God blindly! Don’t mind the talks of people… You’ll surely get there! If you trust God enough, you can go far enough! Only those who entertain doubt stop on the way because they are fluctuating in faith!
:
Jesus said we shouldn’t worry for what to eat and drink (Matthew 6:31)! We shouldn’t worry on how to bring that dream to reality! We shouldn’t get upset because it never worked like we planned, we can still be joyful, we can still live a life of thanksgiving to God. Just sing unto the Lord, worship Him in praises and keep trusting Him even when the going gets tough. You may not see any result now but you don’t need to see results to believe (Mark 11:24). People you have always trusted may desert you but keep praising! You may have even made mistakes and broken relationships that would have helped you but there is another chance for you! All things are working for your good if you love God including those silly mistakes you made (Romans 8:28). Keep trusting God and watch Him fix it! God will not desert you because you made mistakes, He will give you another opportunity to represent Him better!
:
Get your mind fixed on the beautiful realities of God’s word (Philippians 4:8) and make it your confession too (Proverbs 18:21). You can be full of joy (Philippians 4:4), it is your right! You can decide not to fear any evil because you know the presence is strongly with you! This way you keep winning from the position of victory. Jesus finished the battle when He said it is finished! Listen to me right now, that suffering is finished! That challenge is finished! Anything you’re seeing now is mere shadows! Jesus left for you a defeated devil and therefore you aren’t even meant to engage in a combat with any demon because in Christ you stay victorious! Just resist the devil by staying joyful and deciding to know nothing else but what the word has said concerning you!
:
“For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
