LEARN FROM MY MOTHER: Be your Child’s mentor!!!

Many have been asking me who my mentor is, here is my answer!!!

Well… till this moment she has been my mentor!

She led me to Christ at the age I couldn’t even read and write. The first thing I learnt to read was the Bible and she was the coach! She could have me read the bible and night devotions and also have me preach from what I have read. It was this woman who taught me how to read and write and today I am a writer, a preacher of God’s word and a fluent reader! She trained me in the path of God and encouraged me to hearken to God’s call when it came at a very tender age… I was in primary 3 then! It was all because of her.

The bible wasn’t mincing words when it talked about training up a child. When you don’t train your child, the world will train him or her for you. If you are a mother or a father and you are not your child’s first mentor, then it’s obvious you have been a failure in the business of training your own child. Was it not a woman who gave birth to the worlds’ most deadly terrorist? Yet a woman gave birth to Jesus. It is the Parents who are the first to identify what God has said concerning their child and see that it is fulfilled! Only parents who are conscious of prophecy can really train their children with the vision of seeing the child become what God has declared concerning him or her.

When I began to grow up into an adolescent, stealing and lying at home became my hubby…Lol! I almost walked off the track but she didn’t spare the rod because she never wanted her child to spoil! However, she never relied on the rod but on the word. She could pray for me and groan for me all night asking God for mercy on my behalf! She never ceased praying because she knew the prophecy that came to her concerning who I would become and she did her best with absolute trust in God to see that the prophecy is fulfilled!

When people almost gave up on me, she didn’t give up on me. Most nights I would cry because I saw all the pains I made her go through, I saw how she always struggled to protect my image in the public and wash my dirty linens inside the home! Most of my weaknesses were treated only at home and never outside! And today, her son is proud to be a Pastor, a mentor and coach to others and a believer who will never ever give up on God. I am proud to be her son and she is proud to be the mother of George O.N!

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
